Apple iPhone 12 Could Ship With Braided USB-C to Lightning Cable

Following rumors that the Apple iPhone 12 will not be releasing with a power adapter and EarPods, we are now learning that the flagship device may be accompanied by a new braided USB-C to Lightning cable. Reports reveal a more durable braided cable that are similar to cables that currently come with the Mac Pro and HomePod.

The potential new design provides extra reinforcement to the endpoints protecting the cable heads that are often damaged. The USB-C to Lightning cable reportedly measures the usual 1.05 meters in length and slightly thicker at 3.04mm. The USB-C end enables fast charging on compatible iPhones, offering a 50 percent charge within 30 minutes. Eight silver contacts with rhodium-plated ruthenium applied to the cables also offer more resistance to corrosion.
