We’re finally about to get our hands on the first Filipino-designed Vans! Per Vans’ Facebook, the shoe brand will be dropping Vans Custom Culture Competition winner Nikko Palaez‘s design on select concept stories starting this November 15. ICYMI: Nikko won first place last year among 10,000 entries from all over Asia in the 2018 Vans Custom Culture Competition with his custom B&W ‘Along with the Gods‘ design.
Meanwhile, this year’s Vans Custom Culture Competition is open for entries until December 19. You might have also heard of Nikko from his recently commissioned ‘Yorme‘ Vans design in celebration of Mayor Isko Moreno’s birthday last October. On winning the top spot last year, Nikko said ‘Hindi ko inisip na aabot sa merkado yung sapatos ko. Hindi ko inisip yung cash prize.’ ‘Gusto ko lang talaga sumali. Gusto ko lang sumali para sa sining.’
